Popstar Jamelia has landed a role in a film despite never having acted before.

She would not say any more about the project which is still in its early stages.

Jamelia has previously admitted she would like to be a Bond girl because she loves the idea of a playing a femme fatale.

Speaking at the European premiere of Spider-Man 3, the star was not giving much away: "I've got a part in a new movie which I'm really excited about.

"It's my first project on film so it's going to be fun."

News of a career change comes amid rumours Jamelia is about to part company with record label EMI.

Her ten-year deal is coming to an end and some reports suggest she won't resign because she was unhappy with her last album.
