Prior defiant in sledging row

Matt Prior has admitted he is relishing the vocal battle out in the middle after England's Test series against India flared up with another sledging flashpoint. The England wicketkeeper has been the driving force behind an aggressive policy towards the Indian batsmen during the npower series, which has resulted in a number of incidents. Opener Dinesh Karthik complained about the constant chatter during the drawn opening Test at Lord's and in the current match, Zaheer Khan brandished his bat at Kevin Pietersen in frustration as India built a seemingly unassailable lead on day three. Match referee Ranjan Madugalle is yet to decide whether either player should face censure under the ICC's code of conduct, but Prior has openly admitted he loves the banter. "It's part of the game and if you don't enjoy it then you're going to struggle. It's never nice when it's you batting and there's 11 blokes around you giving you a barrage," said Prior. "It can be uncomfortable, obviously, but having known that as a batter as well it can definitely be used as an advantage." Jul 30: India claim early breakthroughJul 30: Flintoff on comeback trail |
