Terror suspect Dr Mohammed Jamil Asha has appeared in court charged with conspiracy to cause explosions. The 26-year-old was arrested on the M6 in the wake of the failed car bomb attacks on London and Glasgow. He was remanded in custody at City of Westminster Magistrates Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on July 27. Asha is accused of conspiring with Bilal Abdullah, Kafeel Ahmed and "others unknown". He was the fourth person to be charged in connection with the terror plot. Dr Sabeel Ahmed, 26, the brother of Kafeel Ahmed, is charged with possessing information which could have prevented an act of terrorism. He appeared at City of Westminster magistrates' court on Monday and was remanded in custody. A further man, Mohammed Haneef, 27, has been detained in Australia for immigration offences after being charged in connection with the plot. He is accused of giving his mobile phone SIM card to British suspects Sabeel and Kafeel Ahmed when he moved to Australia in July 2006. The two brothers are believed to be cousins of Mr Haneef. All three men have links to Bangalore in India. |
