Singer Usher and his partner Tameka Foster are expecting their first child together, the couple have announced.

In a statement, the couple said: "We are extremely excited at this point in our lives, planning our wedding and the joy that comes with expecting our first child.

"We hope people will be happy for us and respect our privacy during this happy period in our lives."

The 29-year-old announced his engagement to Foster in April. The baby, which is reportedly due in autumn, will be Usher's first child, while it's the fourth for stylist Foster.

The R&B singer, real name Usher Raymond, is also expected to release his fifth album this year.

His 2005 album, Confessions, sold eight million copies in the US.
