Surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr turned out for a special ceremony in honour of John Lennon and George Harrison.

The pair were joined by Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté at The Mirage in Las Vegas where two plaques were unveiled.

The two former Beatles were recognised for their contributions to the production LOVE, which celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles and is presented exclusively at The Mirage.

The project was born out of a personal friendship between George Harrison and the Cirque du Soleil founder.

Paul McCartney said: "It's great to be unveiling this because the guys aren't here and the show has been such a great success.

"They were magnificent men and it is an honour to unveil this plaque to them."

The event celebrates the one-year anniversary of LOVE and coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
