A coach driver has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of three people killed in a coach crash on the M25.

Philip Rooney, 48, of Carluke, Lanarkshire, was driving a National Express vehicle when it crashed on a sliproad near Heathrow Airport on January 3.

It was travelling from the airport to Aberdeen in Scotland following the Christmas break.

Two people died shortly after the crash and a third died earlier this month.

Rooney appeared before magistrates in Reading, who granted him unconditional bail.

He was instructed him to appear at the Berkshire town's Crown Court on November 8 for a plea and directions hearing.
