Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks is set to become the first soap to highlight the risks of anorexia in a new storyline this summer.

The controversial plot starts when Emma Rigby's character - Hannah Asworth befriends a young model who is suffering from the eating disorder.

They go on to become classic anorexia buddies who develop a growing obsession with avoiding food while keeping friends and family in the dark.

The dangerous dieting game ends in tragedy when one of the girls dies.

Young actress Emma is pleased the soap has taken such a dramatic approach to the problem.

She said: "I think it is giving such a postive message out because it shows the dangers of eating disorders."
