Not only has the final Harry Potter book sold millions in a matter of days, it has also earned itself an award nomination.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is in the running for the Best Book gong at the UK's first Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards to take place in October.

The award would be another achievement for JK Rowling whose latest Potter instalment has broken records by becoming the fastest-selling book in UK history, after 2,652,656 copies sold in its first 24 hours on shelves.

It is nominated for the award alongside Blood Beast (The Demonata) by Darren Shan, Care and the Feeding of Sprites (Spiderwick Chronicles) by Holly Black, and Jacky Daydream by Jacqueline Wilson.

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the teenage wizard in the Potter movie series, is also nominated for Best Movie Actor against Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.

Brit boyband McFly will be hosting the celebrity-studded event following in the footsteps of Justin Timberlake who presented the most recent awards in the US.

The pop group are also up for a couple of gongs after nominations in the Best Band and Best Male Singer categories.

TV mogul Simon Cowell is most likely to walk away with an award as he'll be competing with himself in the Best Reality TV Show category, with nominations for both The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.
